A team of engineers and designers will discuss how to best implement sustainable buildings from the design phase through the operations phase by focusing on the three main narratives of integrated design, construction commissioning, and ongoing performance tracking. By following up with the design of your building through the occupancy and performance period, the project can meet the requirements of Architecture 2030, improve the welfare and health of building occupants and can help the project become a marketing opportunity of proven performance tracked on sustainable design. This course is presented in three modules. Module 1 focuses on the Design Phase. Module 2 focuses on the Construction Phase, while Module 3 focuses on the Ongoing Performance Phase.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Understand the benefits of a holistic approach to sustainable design, construction and operations of a building.
  2. Identify when to include technical services in an integrated design process to optimize building performance.
  3. Learn how building commissioning contributes to reduced energy consumption in high performance buildings.
  4. Understand how a building audit can optimize performance in buildings.
