Florida Amendment 4 Webinar
Join us to learn more about Florida's Amendment 4, also known as Florida Tax Exemptions for Renewable Energy Measure, which is on the August 30, 2016, primary election ballot in Florida as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. We will have the following guest speakers, plenty of time for questions and answers and specific ways to spread the word about Amendment 4.
SPEAKERSGeorge Cavros, Florida Energy Policy Attorney, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy
George joined SACE in April 2013. His focus is on advocating for state policies that sustainably ramp-up energy efficiency programs by Florida’s power companies, and that encourage meaningful renewable energy development in the state. He oversees SACE’s work in Florida and serves as the organization’s legal counsel in the state. George worked with SACE as a consultant / attorney for 6 years prior to joining the staff full time. George previously worked as Florida Representative for the National Environmental Trust on campaigns to defeat attempts to weaken landmark federal environmental laws and worked to promote federal policy to address the challenge of climate change. Prior to that, George clerked with the US EPA Stationary Air Enforcement Division. George is active in the south Florida community and serves on the Broward County Climate Change Task Force. He earned his JD with honors from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center. He also enjoys his work as an adjunct professor of Energy Law.
Tom Carlson, Manager, Regulatory & Legislative Affairs, EDF Renewable Energy
Tom Carlson is Manager of Regulatory and Legislative Affairs for EDF Renewable Energy, a leading U.S. independent power producer. Tom conducts policy efforts related to renewable energy in the central and eastern parts of the United States. He currently serves as Chair of the Southeast Committee for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). Prior to his current position, Tom worked on state and federal policy initiatives with Advanced Energy Economy, a multi-sector clean energy business association. He also previously served as the Maryland Campaign Director for the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and helped to successfully enact legislation to support the state’s first offshore wind farm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in media studies from Macalester College and a master’s degree in education from American University.
