Initial Webcast Date
(In-person & Via GoToWebinar)
Wednesday, February 8, 2017 - 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
(Via GoToWebinar Only)
Thursday, March 2, 2017 - 12:-00 - 1:00 p.m.
This presentation will explain how to build green – and save money for your clients in the long run – by following the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and ASHRAE 189.1 High Performance Building Standard, pointing out baseline measures that complement LEED v4 BD+C: New Construction, and justifying them on an economic basis.
The IgCC is for jurisdictions that want to establish community-wide green building standards for commercial construction, and ASHRAE 189.1 provides the “product standard” for doing so. Eventually, ASHRAE 189.1 and IgCC are expected to be prerequisites for the next version of LEED under a new unification of standards creating one building code in a collaborative effort between the USGBC, ASHRAE, and ICC.
This presentation will enumerate the IgCC/189.1 requirements, including site sustainability, energy efficiency, water use efficiency, and indoor environmental quality, which correlate to LEED v4 credits for Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, and Indoor Environmental Quality.
By the end of the session, participants will understand how following IgCC/189.1 can benefit the communities that choose to adopt them, lead to green LEED v4 certified buildings, AND provide an economically attractive return on investment for their clients.
- GBCI Credit Hours: 1 LEED Specific Green Associate or BD+C
- AIA Credit Hours: 1 LU/HSW
This is a self-reporting series for GBCI credit hours. AIA credit hours will be reported to AIA on your behalf if your AIA member number is in your USGBC Florida online profile.
No certificate of attendance will be issued. Please save your "Thank you for attending" post event email as proof of attendance in the unlikely event you are audited.
- Specify the requirements of IgCC/ASHRAE 189.1 for Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, and Materials and Resources, including how they compare to LEED v4 BD+C prerequisites and credits.
- Specify the requirements of IgCC/ASHRAE 189.1 for Energy and Atmosphere and Indoor Air Quality, including how they compare to LEED v4 BD+C prerequisites and credits.
- Identify the 90.1-2013 and 2016 requirements that make economic sense and explain how incorporating these will affect LEED v4 BD+C Energy and Atmosphere credits.
- Apply IgCC/ASHRAE 189.1 as a jumpstart tool for building code compliance and meeting LEEDv4 BD+C prerequisites and credits.
