Volunteers from South Florida, including from USGBC Miami, are creating a local volunteer effort toward securing a green-building certification for the Lotus Village. This is a great opportunity for tangible community work while gaining real project experience. Join us!
Located in Miami’s Overtown district, the Lotus Village includes state-of-the-art shelter facilities and supporting services for homeless individuals and families, as well as the surrounding neighborhood. The mixed-use “village” includes shelter facilities operated by the Lotus House, a holistic neighborhood health clinic and a children’s day care and wellness center. While approaching occupancy at the end of 2017, the project needs our help to achieve a green-building certification.
Join us on July 13 at the TLC Engineering for Architecture office in Miami to learn more about the project, the certification pursued, and how you can help. The President and Executive Director of the Lotus House, Constance Collins, will provide a mission overview and brief history of the project. The green-building lead, Katherine Roth, will explain the certification details, status and volunteer needs.
Interested, but unable to make it on the 13th? Please contact Katherine Roth with your interest.
