Join your USGBC friends for a tour of the newly LEED Silver certified (Existing Building Operations and Maintenance) University of South Florida Phyllis P. Marshall Student Center. The tour will be led by a team from the building, university sustainability officers, the Architect-of-Record, as well as, their local LEED consultant.
In August of 2008, the University of South Florida - Tampa opened the Marshall Student Center. The 235,000 sf facility boasts a four-story atrium, a tower housing student-life programs, a 400-seat multipurpose room, a 550-seat food court, a 700-seat auditorium, and a ballroom with a capacity of 1,200. The project also brought to campus a formal restaurant, an art gallery, a variety of lounge and study spaces, and an outdoor plaza. The facility helped change how the University serves its students and is recognized as a benchmark student union/center by many across the nation, coordinating more than 12,000 reservations annually with approximately 2.5 million guests a year. At the time of construction, the facility was not LEED Certified. Almost 10 years later, the Marshall Student Center is now LEED EB O+M Certified at the Silver level.
