Speaker

Chris Castro, CPB, LEED GA

Chris Castro is a social entrepreneur, community organizer and sustainability professional with a passion for accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy. Over the last 10 years, Chris has worked with governments, academia, chambers, companies, nonprofits and communities to implement sustainability projects that include a variety of topics, including solar energy development, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, local food systems, water quality, ecological restorations and more. He's currently the senior energy adviser to Mayor Buddy Dyer, and the Director of Sustainability for the City of Orlando. In his role at the City, Chris works to develop cross-sector policies and programs that support the sustainability, energy and climate-related goals of the Green Works Orlando municipal and community action plans.

In 2012, Chris co-founded a clean-energy consulting and development firm called Citizen Energy, specializing in custom energy efficiency solutions for small and mid-sized commercial and multifamily buildings in Florida and the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. He also sits on several nonprofit Boards, including USGBC Florida, Florida Green Chamber of Commerce, Florida Renewable Energy Association, and the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community. In his limited spare time, you can find Chris organizing environmental action projects in Central Florida through his nonprofit IDEAS For Us, leading an urban farming program called Fleet Farming in Orlando neighborhoods, and/or surfing with friends on the east coast of Florida.

Please help us spread the word by sharing that you are "going" on the Facebook event and invite your network. The more people who learn about smart sustainable cities and buildings the better!
