Join the USGBC Northern Gulf Coast for a tour of the Southtowne Apartments.  While not a LEED project, the Southtowne development, located on the site of the former Pensacola News Journal headquarters on East Romana Street, features a plethora of green/ sustainable features for its residents.  These features includes things like reuse of an existing site, density & diverse uses, location & transportation, bicycle facilities, reduced parking footprint, green vehicle charging stations, open spaces, heat island reduction, low emitting materials, daylighting, etc.  The $52 million project broke ground in May 2015 and completion of portions of the project are now complete with final completion by the end of this year. This is a wonderful development by the Studer Properties group who continue invest in the downtown redevelopment effort. This will be a walking tour of the site, no lunch will be provided. Please meet on the top level of the parking garage with the entrance located on Jefferson Street.
